Battle for Baldur's Gate is larger than a normal set, with both oft-asked-for Commander reprints and new cards. There are new cards, including 85 legendary creatures and planeswalkers. The set is designed to play Limited Commander: you can play Draft or Sealed with it.

Similar to the original Commander Legends, Battle for Baldur's Gate contains 361 regular cards (141 commons, 120 uncommons, 77 rares, 22 mythic rares, 1 special) and includes randomly inserted premium versions of all cards.

Every Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate Set Boosters contain more loot than a normal Set Booster. Each Set Booster contains fifteen cards, with plenty of opportunities for opening multiple rares and mythic rares, including multiple legends:

• 1 Foil-etched legendary creature or Background (rare or mythic rare in 1 of 3 boosters)
• 1 Legendary creature or planeswalker (rare or mythic rare in 50% of boosters)
• 1 Legendary Background (rare in 1 of 12 boosters)
• 1 Rare or mythic rare (this can be legendary or non-legendary)
• 1 Traditional foil card of any rarity, including Booster Fun cards
• 1 Common or uncommon card with the rulebook treatment
• 1 Basic land or foil basic land
• 3 Common cards that are connected thematically
• 3 Uncommon cards that are connected thematically
• 2 Wildcards of any rarity
• 1 Art card or foil-stamped art card
• 1 Token, ad card, helper card, or a card from The List
